What to Expect in Your First Reformer Pilates Class in Verbier

Nervous about your first Reformer class? Here's exactly what to expect at KŌR Verbier, from grip socks to springs, so you can walk in feeling prepared.

Beginner-friendly Reformer Pilates class at KŌR Verbier

Walking into a Reformer Pilates studio for the first time can feel a little intimidating, all those springs, straps and moving carriages. The good news is that at KŌR, every class is led by a qualified physiotherapist, and beginners are genuinely welcome. Here is exactly what to expect.

Before you arrive

Wear comfortable, form-fitting activewear that lets you move freely. Grip socks are mandatory and available to buy at the studio if you don't have a pair. Bring a water bottle, and arrive five to ten minutes early so we can show you around and set up your Reformer.

As a boutique studio we don't have showers, lockers or a changing room, so it's best to arrive ready to move.

Which class to start with

We recommend beginners start with KŌR Form, our foundational class focused on alignment and the fundamentals of Reformer work. If you'd prefer a personalised introduction, a private 1:1 session is a great way to learn the machine at your own pace before joining a group.

What happens during the class

Classes are 50 minutes and capped at eight people, so your instructor can watch your technique closely and offer modifications. You'll be introduced to the Reformer, its springs and how to adjust them, then guided through a full-body sequence that builds strength, mobility and control.

Nothing is rushed. Every movement is cued clearly, and there are always options to make an exercise gentler or more challenging depending on how you feel.

How you'll feel afterwards

Most people leave their first class feeling taller, longer and pleasantly worked rather than exhausted. It's normal to notice muscles you didn't know you had over the next day or two, especially deep in the core and hips.

For lasting results we recommend building toward two to four classes a week, but even one session a week brings noticeable benefits.
